The USDF Instructor/Trainer Development Program is designed to educate amateurs and professionals of all
levels who wish to further their education in the classical system of dressage. Our program offers educational
seminars on lunging, riding and teaching. There are three two-day clinics offered. The first day will be geared
toward a general audience and large group, features demonstration riders, and is open to anyone.
The second day is designed for a small group and features a hands-on education experience for participants.
A student can attend any or all of the three clinics. If they would like to attend day two of any clinic, they must
attend the first day. These seminars are based on core content that everyone should know and will help those
who wish to continue on to certification. In all seminars, attendees are in a learning environment.
The first day of each clinic is open to anyone and includes lectures and demonstration rides. There is no limit
on the number of attendees on Day 1. Day 2 is a smaller, more “closed” environment which includes hands-on
sessions, discussion, feedback, and it is limited to eight (8) participants who have attended Day 1 of that clinic.
Depending on the focus of the seminar, the participants will teach lessons (private only), lunge horses and horse/
rider combinations, and ride horses. They will work on the theory, methodology and techniques of classical
dressage. There is a lot of interaction between the participants and the faculty during each session. There will
be discussion regarding evaluating the horses and the riders in a particular way. The seminar atmosphere is
supportive of discussion and inquiry. All this adds to the educational qualities of the program

IDCTA Education Recognition Program
Dates for submission events attended: 11/1/23 (retrioactive) to 10/31/24
The mission of the IDCTA Education Series is to foster a community of equestrians
who are as eager to learn and develop their skills, as they are to compete.
This program intends to reward riders and unmounted horsemen alike, for their dedication to continuing education, by awarding points
to the various educational sessions (mounted and unmounted) offered throughout the calendar year.
The submissions can be from any horse related educational activities.
Examples could be educational activities at Pony Club Rallies, certification programs and horse behavioral sessions.
These activities will be tracked as you complete and at the end of the year, the points will be added up and certificates and ribbons will be awarded at the banquet for anyone who has submitted entries and meet the threshold outlined in the flyer.
